Student Spotlight: Marianna Papazoglou

On top of all that, Marianna Papazoglou also just made WCA history by becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer in girls’ basketball. Amid a shortened season due to the pandemic, the Lady Crusaders went 9-1, and Marianna surpassed the school record of 1,759 points that Carol “Budy” Blum had held since 1990. Marianna finished with 1,768.

From a Lady Crusader to a Quaker, Marianna will continue her basketball career as a freshman studying business at the University of Pennsylvania. And as she embarks on her new journey and embraces city living, she will never forget her time as a student at Wildwood Catholic Academy.

“This school is special,” she says. “When people talk about Wildwood Catholic, they use the word ‘family,’ and I do, too. My best memory from my time here is from last spring, when we all came together as a community, and worked to raise funds and awareness to keep this school open. Getting that phone call that we succeeded is something I will never forget, and I’m so grateful to everyone who worked so hard to help keep us in this school. We are a family, and it’s the one thing I love the most about my time here.”

Best of luck to Marianna and all her classmates as they enjoy their last few months as students at Wildwood Catholic Academy. You will always be a part of our family, and you will do great things as you move on to college and beyond!
