Alumni Spotlight
Sam, Gina, Karmen & Rick Ranalli

Always serving up smiles the Ranalli family originally of North Wildwood and proud alumni of our Catholic schools successfully took on a new adventure by opening Her Daughters Cafe during one of the toughest years for businesses globally. The name Her Daughters refers to Sam, Gina, and Karmen Ranalli, three incredibly talented, ambitious, proud alumni of Wildwood Catholic. Of course they have a story to tell which captures their love for the restaurant industry and their natural ability to lift others’ spirits through their positive energy, laughter and of course their food. Sisters Sam and Gina as teeny girls would often be standing on kitchen chairs, side-by-side with mom, learning, loving, and ALWAYS laughing. Growing up, all four siblings worked in their family restaurants every summer, and when Her Daughters Cafe came to life, it didn’t take much to convince the spunky baby of the bunch, Karmen, and their only brother Rick to help get the operation up and running.

They all thank their mother for the lesson they learned that “The kitchen is our sanctuary, it’s what brings people together every day.”

Sam (‘97), Gina(‘01), Karmen(‘07) and Rick(’99) (not in photo) dedicated themselves to ensuring Her Daughters would be a new beacon of hope during a tough year for everyone. Her Daughters, located in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia opened their doors during the pandemic while carefully navigating the health and safety restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 virus. They serve each customer with an incredible selection of breakfast and lunch items as well as drinks to keep you moving, but most profound is the wonderful lasting impression they leave upon each visitor.

In true Crusader fashion the Ranalli siblings’ drive, determination, and focus helped them succeed regardless of any obstacle they had to encounter. These qualities and other soft skills are what are inherently learned inside the doors of Wildwood Catholic Academy in addition to our Catholic values and academic rigor.

Next time you’re in Philly and are craving something tasty, tastefully served, stop by Her Daughters and support our ever growing list of alumni.
