Last year we worked with NWPD to help create the safest plan regarding our students for arrival and dismissal.
This school year we are blessed to have a crossing guard on the corner of 15th & Central.
Please reference the attached photo of the school property as the following points are addressed.
1) Student dropoff by car should take place along the green arrows along the closest side of the building.
2) If a student is dropped off where the red X's are marked (especially on 15th Avenue side) the student must cross the street where the crossing guard is present. On 16th Avenue students must cross at a corner.
***This is the BIGGEST ITEM that we need to re-train ourselves and our children*** We CANNOT have children run across 15th Avenue in the middle of the street, it is too dangerous.
3) 16th Avenue side can be used for student dropoff. Please note that is where our 2 buses also dropoff/pickup.
So please be safe and efficient.
4) The green arrows mark the morning entry points
5) The parking lot on the corner of 16th & Central Aves. is dedicated to seniors (12th graders) who drive. It is our "Senior Parking Lot.
Please do not use this area for parking & waiting. This lot is full of novice drivers who need space entering and exiting the lot.
6) The parking lot along New Jersey Ave. is designated for school teachers & staff & parish employees with designated placards.
7) Parents of student drivers: Please review with your children the importance of driving safely (ESPECIALLY IN OUR SCHOOL ZONE)
When our students arrive and depart it is a very hectic traffic scenario (even for experienced drivers). So please ensure you talk with them about driving safely (No texting/No speeding)
I apologize for the lengthy email but student safety is of utmost importance. We ALL have to participate in safe practices.
Great news is our traffic pattern is slightly less congested this year with more of our students taking bus transportation!
