Principal Joe Cray Honored by Southwest Football Coaches Association
From Southwest Football Coaches Association - SWFCA is Proud to Honor Joe. Cray Jr.:
Joe Cray Jr. is a proud Lancer from Our Lady of Loreto, Class of 1993, and Proud West Catholic Burr, Class of 1997. Throughout his illustrious career Joe Cray has exemplified unwavering dedication to Catholic education, the education system that gave him his strong foundation from his childhood as a student at Our Lady of Loreto through his years at West Catholic. In 2017, Joe became the principal at Wildwood Catholic High School and instantly knew the Catholic community there was where he belonged. The position did not come without challenges, however. In April 2020, during the pandemic, the school was slated to close its doors for good. Joe, along with the community, never lost sight of the mission to remain open, to keep doing God’s work, and together they successfully formulated and executed a strategic plan to make this happen. This included opening the first Pre-K-Grade 12 School in the Diocese of Camden, increasing enrollment and excitement for Catholic education. In addition, Joe and his loyal community raised over one million dollars in three short months.
Under Joe’s leadership, Wildwood Catholic Academy has since expanded programming and has been voted “Best of South Jersey Shore”. The school continues to make headlines because of the successful programs, positive impact on our community, and ever-expanding list of Ivy League and top of the nation college acceptances & awarded scholarship funds for our graduates. Due to Joe’s commitment to Catholic education the WCA community is now thriving.
