HAPPENING IN THE UPPER SCHOOLStudents Take On Shakespeare |
Shakespeare was in the air at Wildwood Catholic Academy. The freshmen brought The Merchant of Venice to life in Mrs. Schumann’s class, acting out scenes with enthusiasm and energy. Mrs. Schumann’s passion for literature continues to inspire her students, making Shakespeare’s words jump off the page. The juniors explored the beauty of Shakespearean sonnets in Mrs. Livingston’s British Literature class, reading classic works and crafting their own poetic masterpieces. The seniors had a fantastic time performing Hamlet in full costume, fully immersing themselves in the drama and intrigue of the play. The week concluded with the juniors and seniors gathered for a delightful tea party, complete with an assortment of teas, scones, and homemade desserts. As they sipped tea and shared their desserts, students reflected on their love for Shakespeare and the timeless impact of his work. |
Fun & Fantasy in Freshman Literature |
Mrs. Schumann’s students took a break from reading The Merchant of Venice to handcraft their own Venetian mask. They were treated to watching the most recent videos of the Venice Carnival while they created their mask - a fun virtual field trip! |
Mrs. Schumann Shares King Cake Tradition |
Mrs. Schumann enjoyed sharing homemade King Cakes with the seniors and juniors.
Tradition says whoever finds the baby, representing Jesus, in their slice of the cake will be lucky and prosperous. It also means they are responsible for making next year’s cake!
