Summer Reading Assignments

All students will be required to read ONE (1) book during the summer.

All  Freshmen will read:

  • Make Your Bed by Admiral William H. McRaven ( U.S. Navy Retired )

All  freshmen are expected to create a journal of the book as they read, recording their thoughts as well as insights gained, likes and dislikes, unforgettable characters and quotes that resonated with them.

Students are also encouraged to respond through illustrations and quotes. All work must be hand written. Students may also make personal connections as well as current event connections. Literature teachers are not looking for a retelling of the plot.

Please organize the journal accordingly. There are ten chapters in this book.   Write the name of each chapter then begin recording your thoughts and various insights.  This journal will be collected in early September. It will assist the student in preparation for final assessment.
